Theme for this camp is\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0art and dance. It runs from June 14 to June 18 @ 9 am to 4 pm at El Carmelo. \u00a0Both her and Majestic are enrolled together.<\/p>\n

June 14, 2010<\/h3>\n

Today they learned how to dance the Macarena. \u00a0They also started working on their four elements (earth, wind, water and fire) masks, learned to play the drums, drew a sea serpent and a parrot. \u00a0They also painted\u00a0Caribbean\u00a0tribal patterns.<\/p>\n

June 15, 2010<\/h3>\n

They learned to play the maracas – made from gourds with beads dangling on string. \u00a0They started drawing the flags of some of the countries in the\u00a0Caribbean. \u00a0AMS’ flag was Barbados. \u00a0She also drew still life drawing of a cat and added feathers on their masks.<\/p>\n

June 16, 2010<\/h3>\n

Today we learned how to do the “Moonwalk” in dance class. \u00a0We also learned a routine from Michael Jackson’s music video, “Thriller”. \u00a0In drum class, we started to make a drum. \u00a0In our mask making class, I finished\u00a0making her Halloween mask. \u00a0Tomorrow, I am planning to do a paper-making demo to the class during lunch.<\/p>\n

June 17, 2010<\/h3>\n

Today we learned the rest of the Michael Jackson dance routine and we\u00a0learned\u00a0our solo dance numbers. \u00a0We also finished making our drums. \u00a0And we learned how to draw the curious puppy and baby mouse. \u00a0I also added glitter on my tribal painting.<\/p>\n

AMS also got a chance to demonstrate paper-making during lunch. \u00a0She was really excited about doing it and had 6 other kids in her workshop. \u00a0The kids thought it was cool and fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
