Betsy Ross and the Revolutionaries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This event was a performance by the 5th grade classes to depict the American Revolution. \u00a0The purpose was to teach attending parents about an important part of American history. \u00a0The students were\u00a0organized\u00a0into groups, including the “Redcoats”, the “White Tories” and the “Blue Rebels”. \u00a0They were either patriots or “Redcoats”. \u00a0The “King\u00a0George” character was part of the the “Blue Rebels” for some reason and it’s known that he was actually with the Imperialists. \u00a0Somehow it all made sense.<\/p>\n

The kids performed different monologues representing their respective political inclination. \u00a0AMS played Betsy Ross and Mary Draper. \u00a0AMS, a.k.a. “Betsy Ross” talked making the first official American flag. \u00a0The thirteen stars and stripes represented the original thirteen colonies and the stripes had to start with red and end with red. \u00a0Betsy Ross was the first introduce the five-pointed star because it was easy to cut with one snip.<\/p>\n

Mary Draper gave up her entire food stores to feed the Continental army and melted down all her priceless family heirloom and\u00a0dish-ware\u00a0to make bullets to help fight the Imperialists.<\/p>\n
