We saw Sankai Juko once again at the Yerba Buena Center for Performing Arts. \u00a0The last time they were in the area was 5 years ago and we saw them then as part of Amelia’s birthday celebrations. \u00a0This time it’s to celebrate Dad’s birthday.<\/p>\n

Once again we were treated to a profound incomprehensible mystery of the universe through the dance and movement of Sankai Juko.<\/p>\n

Program Notes:<\/p>\n

“UMUSUNA<\/em> is a very old word originating from ancient Japan that has the same root as ubusuna (one’s place of birth). \u00a0Ubusu<\/em> means birth, the beginning of \u00a0life, or entering\u00a0the world. \u00a0The word umusu<\/em> also embodies the concepts of everything and nothing, existence and nothingness. \u00a0Na<\/em> evokes the land, the ground\/soil and one’s native place.”<\/p>\n
