This is our fourth year of attending the Midsummer Mozart Festival at Gundlach-Bundschu Winery, Napa.  Program II featured Seymour Lipkin – wow!

Alcandro, lo confesso, K. 294, Jeremy Galyon, basso.  This aria is about the tale of King Darius’ daughter, Stateira, and Alexander.  Alexander (the Great) has caught up with King Darius, his sworn enemy, is about to kill him.  Darius’ daughter pleads with Alexander to spare her father.  Alexander answers with song…

We got our usual choice seating spots – toes touching the stage!  Baba’s home-baked chicken and his house spaghetti special.  Hot chocolate when it got cooler in the evening.
