Corrections:
keep your hip down in passe, pull up standing side, zip up back of legs in su-su/ balances/turns, keep weight even in passe, point your feet, keep a straight line from shoulders to feet

August 26

Class : Ballet

Corrections:
adjust back, get square in arabesque, keep stomach and ribs in, arms lower, held, and forward in pique attitude turn, keep arms in a circle in step up turns

August 27

present the foot, use plie to enhance turn out, use inner thighs to hold arabesque, get over on leg in pique arabesque, point both feet in glisade, slice foot in ecarte releve down to coupee, don’t “wind up” in en dedans pirouette, no double bounce in pirouette

August 28

faster passe, softer landing in saut de chat, use plie to present the foot, scoop the soutenu, keep standing leg straight and pointed in pique turns

August 29

pull sous sus tighter, be accurate when executing combinations, always present both foot and dancer, be ready to go to the other side/go again, be ready and in position to start the combinations at the barre in en bas

 August 30

keep knees over toes, hips square, get right into position in coupe/passe, arabesque behind you, attack soutenu, don’t be slow, attack pirouettes

September 2

keep arabesque leg lower but held in the middle of the back until you get enough strength to hold it up higher, keep standing leg turned out in balances, move the upper body, shoulders down, hands crossed a little bit in pirouettes (for partnering)

September 3

keep arms extended and reach in arabesque, arabesque so hard you “fall” into lunge, keep standing leg straight, present the foot in tombe pas de bourre, cross fifth in changement, in cambre side, keep body in one line, don’t go forwards or back

September 4

hold turn out, arms in second position should be higher, held, wrist lower then elbow, toes go back first in tendu front, work foot on the floor, attack soutenu en tournant, going slowly will throw you off the music

September 5

Class with Ms. Brianne

always remember what was given last class, keep going through a combination, stretch arms out/no bent arms, remember body positions

September 6th

no corrections, one hour class due to ongoing Nutcracker auditions

September 8th

plie deeper, hold balances, in ecarte, leg should be in front of you, in balance a la seconde, leg should also be in front to hold turn out, in degages/tendus a la seconde in the center, leg also should be slightly in front to allow for turn out and full pointe of the feet

 September 9th

open and close arms quickly in en fouettes, in step up turns, “fall” towards the direction you want to go in, with leg to the side, square off shoulders, keep body upright in grand plie, shoulders down

September 10th

massage the floor in tendu, keep hip down in grand battement, don’t sickle foot, high passe, leg turned out in a la seconde, leg exactly behind you in tendu/degage/grand battement/ developpe derrire

September 11th

passe above the knee, snap up to passe in one count, be precise with arms, always present towards audience

September 12th

synch arm and leg in fouettes, brush leg and travel in grand jete, travel in center combinations, get on leg, keep hip down

keep first position arms small during turns, elbows up, stomach muscles engaged, back muscles engaged in arabesque instead of quads, use core and upper back muscles to stay on balance

September 17th

both of legs straight in tendu/degage/grand battement, use feet in tendu, present foot in tombe, arm moves seperate from body, relax ankles in plie

use enough force to get around for two pirouettes from fifth, plie to get more power, land softly out of grand allegro, remember combinations

shoulders back, keep fifth low enough to see out of the corner of your eyes, square off body as much as possible, pull up standing side
move a la seconde to slightly infront of your hip for maximum turnout, pointe, and presentation

October 1st

jump going through the feet, pull hip back in developpe front, keep arms/port de bras flowy and smooth, pull through pique arabesque to lunge

October 2nd

get over box of pointe shoes, snap passe up quickly, shoulders down, beats in jumps must be clean and decipherable

October 3rd

make a combination one connected movement, no unclear movements at the same time, remember and practice body positions, travel across the floor

October 4th

no corrections, class was one hour long due to ongoing rehersals, first Lead Mouse rehersal and Spanish costume fitting

October 6th

turn hands down in first, keep elbows up, use upper back muscles to support port de bras, keep torso straight and not pinched in attitude derierre

October 7th

move second position up, support developpes with core, use plie in fondus, scoop the foot in pas de chivals and enveloppes

October 8th

open fingers up, keep hand loose, port de bras should be open and expansive, announcing presence

October 9th – did not attend class due to first Spanish rehersal taking place 15 minutes after class started

October 10th

keep leg a la seconde at 45 degree angle to work on strength, pull up then back in cambre back, use core and stomach muscles constantly, engage back muscles to hold arm positions

October 11th

Present arms, smile, dance like you’re performing onstage

October 13th

Level Placement

AMS has been placed into Ballet Level VIA / VII level for the Fall Term of 2015-2015. Her teachers commented “Amelia has had a very good year! She has progressed well & has caught up with her age group”.
