Paper is a very unique thing in our world because we use it every day. The Chinese invented paper a long time ago. Paper can be used in many ways like turning into fortune-tellers and doing origami. You can draw on it, print on it, you can use for a wrapping a present. Paper is used for wrapping food: pizzas, Chinese food take-out, Big Macs, groceries, ice cream cones, candy, cookies. Books are made out of paper, so is your homework.
Question:
Can paper be made from different things and how can recycled paper be turned into other kinds of paper.
Pulleys have been around for hundreds of years. The ancient Greeks even had pulleys. Pulleys have been around so long that nobody knows when they were invented.
Pulleys are used for:
Ships for lifting cargo and sails
Lifting heavy things
Changing the direction of the pull
Lifting logs and other heavy stuff
On cranes for lifting heavy building materials

Why are pulleys useful?
Hypothesis:
I think that pulleys will make a big difference when I lift something.
My grandma’s name is Kai Qiong Zheng. She is my mother’s mother. She has short brown hair and always wears a brown suit. She does not know how to speak English. She is a Chinese doctor and lives in China with my uncle. He knows how to speak English.
Shopping
Kai Qiong Zheng was born on August 5, 1940 on the continent of Asia. She was born in China in Chong Qing Bei Pei, Xiao Jai Ba village. She now lives in Beijing on the sixth floor of an apartment building. When she goes out shopping, she goes to different vendors to buy food and things that look special to her – copper fans and cups.
Snowball
She has a rabbit named Snowball and fish in her apartment. Her husband died about one year ago. He was a very good painter of temples, mountains, villages and waterfalls — very beautiful — and there is a book about his artwork. She misses him a lot. I met him in the hospital where he got sick from smoking.
Second Grade
When my Grandma was in second grade, she wore normal pants and shirts made by her parents. From 8:00 am until noon, she studied math and art. Her teacher was a pretty woman with short hair. They studied and played. Lunch was rice and fried vegetables.
Chores
Kai Qiong Zheng’s jobs at home were to help her parents cook meals and climb the mountain to collect firewood. The girls couldn’t lift the big buckets of water so they had string hanging down the sides of bundled firewood. She would feed her little pig. She played Chinese chess. They did not have television or movies. They had chores instead.
Chinese New Year
In the Chinese New Year, my Grandma would go to her great-grandma’s house and eat rice ball soup which is a really good rice ball dough with sesame jam inside that they wrap up inside. Sometimes they have seeds inside.
She would also watch dragon dancing. They would carry a dragon around the streets and dance with their poles.
As spring comes all the flowers shout with joy “Oh spring is here !”
Wild roses bloom so beautifully while lilacs and fox tail dance.
Daisies hide from the big weeds towering above them.
Palm trees show off their big coconuts. Daffodils go home in their yellow gowns at dawn .
A snail goes home leaving a track of silver behind it.
Sparrows fly to their nest as the first light dawn appears.
Today is the day that snow falls down.
And Snowmen are alive.
And books flutter.
When Santa Claus comes we are asleep.
And Christmas comes too tonight.

My friends and I were walking in the woods on an island with Floppy, my pet rabbit. We had to get home so we ran. But we heard a crunch from our feet! We saw a great tree! This is where we live in a tree house. We had not seen our house in days. But now it was night and the moon was like gold in the sky. then I heard some ghost screeching in the moonlight of the dark, dark night. Before us was the great tree that looked like silver velvet. Then we heard another ghost, but this ghost was howling. Soon the woods would be very foggy and misty. The great tree had gnarled twigs. Then a dark shadow loomed over us. We did not know what to do, so we went into the house.
My friends Maya and Meshi were very afraid. The floorboards were almost broken. A creaky staircase went up and up and up. I told my friends to follow me up the creaky, old staircase. We saw a very old door and went inside the room. This is where the trouble began. We saw a witch coming near us, then saw a monster! The monster suddenly disappeared. I thought the monster was a mummy! The witch came closer to us and we tried to get out, but we got lost in the maze of rooms! I looked at Floppy and asked: “Do you have a magic crystal ball?” Floppy said: “Yes,” by jumping up and down two times. My friends Maya and Meshi said at the same time “Let’s go home!”
Then the witch suddenly turned the house into a giant monster. My pet rabbit, Floppy, quickly jumped on the mean witch 100 times. As quickly as Floppy jumped, the witch died saying, “I’ll get you if it’s the last thing I do, do, do!” Then I guided my friends and I out of the house. The monster house turned back into a spooky house. We quickly ran away from the spooky house and ran as fast as we could to home. Then we had supper at home. We told my parents what happened. I said “Goodbye” to my friends and they went home to go to bed in their houses. Then I went to bed safe and sound.
