SFBS Class Observation (Jan 2010)

Jan 14, 2010 (San Francisco, CA). The first parent observation was most enjoyable. The remarkable thing was how well synchronized the whole class was. They looked like “Corps de Ballet” as they danced in perfect unison through complex sequences. So beautiful.

Point Reyes 2009
December 31, 2009 – New Years Eve Point Reyes National Seashore
We went to the Pt. Reyes National Park Lighthouse for a New Years outing.

A quick hike to the lighthouse.
Later we stopped at Vladimir’s Czechoslovakian Restaurant in Inverness for lunch. Super good.

Coloma “Gold Rush” Overnight Trip
The 4th Grade class had an overnight field trip to the Gold Country – to Coloma. This is near Sutter’s Mill, the site where gold was first discovered in California. They were on their field trip for 3 days and 2 nights.

The 4th graders “lived like” the people who came from all over the country and the world in the mid-1800’s, by the thousands, to seek their fortune from panning gold.

They wore close to authentic clothing and each were given a souvenir green bandanna. They also panned for gold and found a few flakes.

They learned about how gold was panned from the rivers and streams in the area. They also learned about the history of California during the Gold Rush days.
This is the most memorable field trip for the 4th graders.

Fourth Grade
Wow! Suddenly I’m in fourth grade.

So great to see my old friends again. And to meet a bunch of new ones! And my teacher, Ms. Holmes, is awesome.
I have to read 40 chapter books by the end of the year. I will go for an overnight (3 days and 2 nights) to Coloma for California History (Gold Rush). We’re also doing Everyday Math and making Native American Posters.
