Ballet San Jose School Parent Observation Week

The Parent Observation Week at BSJS allows parents, relatives and friends of students at the Ballet San Jose School to observe a regular class.  This is one of two opportunities through the year to observe students in class.

Ballet Class Level 2C- Technique

Class observation week was a time of great pride for the students as they’d worked hard over the past year to perfect their technique and show their skills to their parents and friends.  They are now at a bridge to serious professional study.  Two more years and they will be en-pointe.  They are all eligible to audition for the Summer Intensive Camp in July.  The audition will be on March 28, 2009.

Spa Basket
AMS Wins A Spa Basket

AMS won a spa basket at the school raffle!  The principal announced it on the school’s PA system and when she heard her name, she whooped it up and screamed!  Her whole class screamed!  The principal then asked her to come to the school office and claim her price – when she saw it, AMS yelled “Sweet Jesus!”.  The principal  and school staff got a huge kick out of it.

Halloween 2008 – Sayanta

This year, AMS made her Halloween costume as part of a project for school.  She chose an Ohlone Native Girl costume.  With some research, she was able to copy the style.

Of course, she had to wear the costume to the annual Halloween parade at school.

Project 4: Making Ohlone Native American Clothes

Ohlone Girl from Escondido

Indroduction:

Hi my name is Sayanta.  I come from the village of Matalan.  I speak Tamyen, a language of the Ohlone Native Americans.  I am a very busy girl.  The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is fetch water from the stream and fill the water basket in our tule hut.  My parents tell me I was born nine seasons (years) ago.  I will show you how to make clothes in the Ohlone style.
